adrianf. Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 Why would you want speakers in a Scooby with an exhaust note like that ? Quote
mk2vr6 Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Why would you want speakers in a Scooby with an exhaust note like that ? :D because at the moment it still has the oe system in place  but when the finances get better in the new year it's getting a new system bolted on and the speakers will have to be good to compete :D Quote

big_kev Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Adrian, unless the speakers are broken you would be throwing your money away. The difference would be next to nothing....unless you mounted the speakers in a different position. You would be better investing the money in a different system, mp3, dvd or whatever. Just my opinion...... Quote
adrianf. Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 I find it hard to believe you wouldnt notice much diference, after all OE speakers are well known for being pretty poor. I dont want (or rather she doesnt want) to go to the expense of changing head units etc so i think ill go down the speaker route for now and see what happens. Adrian. Quote
Smilge Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 Ady ......... promise you will notice a big difference even with reletively cheap ones like I bought. Tell you what though, the best thing I bought was an Alpine Sub-woofer thingy that sat under the drivers seat. Wot a difference in bass response and the vibration ....... cor mate!!!! Quote
adrianf. Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 That sounds good, how didyou get it to fit under the seat.Only ones i have seen are far too big. Quote
Smilge Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 That sounds good, how didyou get it to fit under the seat.Only ones i have seen are far too big. Its not your normal subwoofer with a huge cabinet and amp ...this is more of a metal ported type and at Quote
Drallemak Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 I'm also interested in replacing my the speakers in my 2003 Galaxy. I'm planning to install a Kenwood 7029 Head Unit. Are there any views about speakers that would be a good match for such a system? Thanks in advance. Adrian Quote
bangbus Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Being a new member I cannot start a new topic so I'll add to this one for now. I have an '02 Galaxy Zetec with a Ford 6000 single CD unit which is becoming ripe for an upgrade. The speakers are noticeably fuzzy so I was planning to replace all the door speakers to begin with and possibly the windscreen and rearmost speakers if there are direct replacements for these. The first question I have relates to the wiring for these speakers.Since there are 8 in total do they all run on separate outputs from the head unit or are there four feeds FL-FR RL-RR each to a pair of speakers ? The second question is what sizes are these speakers ? I'm also plucking up the courage to fit a couple of Subs into the tailgate trim, the gas lifts seem unaffected by the weight of two ten inch subs.I taped them still in their boxes onto the door to see if the extra weight meant changing the gas lifts and it stayed up. Smilge Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Ian ..... no just the four outputs so you'll need to think about impedance matching. If you keep to the same speaker impedance then you can't go wrong. 17cm co-axials fit the doors lovely but watch the speaker depth. I didn't change the dash speakers as they're just tweeters anyway and the rears weren't worth bothering with once I'd changed all the door speakers. Quote
searcher Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Blimey this is one from the past. well i did change my four door speakers for some Sony X plod thingys and to be honest i was quite disapointed. So i then changed the head unit to a Pioneer with 4x50 output and that made it better but still not really happy with the sound. Theres just not much bass to it even with the bass setting turned up to the max. Thinking about a sub at the moment so searching ebay as im not going to fork out for a new one. Quote
