Glyn Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Hi, following a 'minor' accident (which I wont go into) I need a replacement drivers door for my 2003 1.9 TDi. I've found one on ebay for Quote
Glyn Posted November 4, 2007 Author Report Posted November 4, 2007 Just found out the door has no glass and no motor but is apparently in mint condition in the right colour. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Quote
mumof4 Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 If it is the exact same as yours, and you can use your glass and regulator....then it should be ok,,,be careful though as the glass is bloomin heavy!..mind, its a front one so not as heavy as the rear ones. I have no idea if it is a reasonable price, but i guess it wont hurt to ring fords tomoz just to see how much it would cost for a new un. have you got a link for the ebay one please? Quote
Glyn Posted November 4, 2007 Author Report Posted November 4, 2007 Sure .... the guys breaking a 2004 MkII ..... the only down side is he's got a low feedback rating so if your interested in anything he's got be sure to view before purchasing (stating the obvious I guess!) ..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=002 Thanks for the advice, much appreciated  Glyn. gregers Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 personally i think after reading all the questions put to him,he is rather expensive for a lot of the parts, ive seen a lot of parts cheaper on ebay. Quote
mumof4 Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 wouldnt touch with a barge pole to be honest no matter how desperate.and a hundred smackers for the reg and motor is high as it costs not much more than that brand new. Quote
Glyn Posted November 4, 2007 Author Report Posted November 4, 2007 Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it. Just out of interest, does anybody know if the door from a MkI would fit the MkII? Just gives me more options. Once again, many thanks. Quote
Saif Rehman Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 (edited) Recent negative feedbacks, sky high prices - do what BigKev says and see what he comes back with and if he agrees then COD (Cash on delivery, no payment up-front) With regards to the doors fitting from a Mark 1 to a Mark 2, i once heard that the doors were identical, only front-end and rear-end of the Galaxys were 'facelifted' but please do not take my word for it. Glyn Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 Just to give you all a laugh, I thought I'd explain why I need a new door (please bare in mind the wife normally drives the Galaxy and I drive an unleaded Focus - clue). I was taking the wife and kids to Blackpool for the weekend to see the lights and stopped at my local Tesco to fill up with diesel. Unfortunately I suffered some sort of brainstorm and put Quote
mumof4 Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Oh dear, you arent the first hun, least you didnt fill it to the brim like one member did  Quote
NikpV Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 IIRC these doors are individually welded on (well at least the hinges are) I dont think you can depend upon taking a door off the hinges and re-hanging a new one and expect to fit exactly - I dont know how much variation there is. Quote
Glyn Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 Hi, thanks, certainly worth baring in mind. Just had a quote from Ford for a replacement door, unpainted, obviously no glass etc Quote
tiny Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Ive just fitted a OSR door to my MK1, Quote
Glyn Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 Thanks for that, that gives me a little more confidence if I can find a door at the right price. Many Thanks. Quote
