Hi,i'm new here and it won't let me post a new question for some reason so i thought i would tag it on this one as it's similar.

When i start my 2.3 it is fine for about half a mile then looses all power for about a minute then suddenly clears and is fine for the rest of that trip.does it every time and is getting me down .had the problem for about a year .i'm thinking one of the sensors maybe.any ideas .

Thanks in advance

Another update to all.....

Went to pick car up to pass back to the Ford dealer, guess what it will not start, glow plug lights will not come on and red light on door is flashing hence immobiliser on. Man in the garage kept asking for the red key which I have never been given. Having to have the poor old thing relayed to Ford now... Currently up to

Contact the lease company and they will send you the schedule in the form of a print out.

Hope you get it sorted!

Hi folks,

Just reading through the posts, this one i also have with my alhumbra, except it has no turbo.. and its petrol...

I am wondering if perhaps i am seeing the beginning of the problem that will develope into what has been posted on. Basically all it is and lasts for about 30-60seconds after engine start.

I turn key, allow lights on oil temp and fuel to go off, switch engine on, allow engine to warm up 2-3 mins (time it takes to roll a smoke, put seat belt on, make notes on to-do list to clean car) pull away...

The car will almost stall, then pickup again and problem doesn't occur again until next day.. This morning, i thought i'd just hold down the clutch and see what the revs did and sure enough, when i push in clutch revs drop from 8krpm to about 2krpm then jumps to 8krpm (normalish tickover) once the engines properly warmed up i can push clutch down and it will drop from whatever rpm it was at to 8k rpm which is the usual tickover.

It's just this wierd sudden drop in power and always occurs on first acceleration. If i let car warm up for 20mins (frosty morning, takes 20mins to defreeze window) it still occurs, if i rev engine a few times it still occurs, its exactly when the engine comes under actual strain for the first time.

Thoughts? Sensor on its way out? Dirty Injectors?

Seat Alhumbra, 2.0i petrol.

I would advise paying with a credit card as this may give you some protection in the event of the ECU being changed and the fault still existing.

Also make sure it is clear that it is clearly written down that they are repairing the particular fault and not just changing the ECU for the hell of it.

Good Luck.

Good advice , many thanks. By luck I did pay on my credit card..

I will get onto them tomorrow and ask for it in writing.

Still not happy about paying for it all up front.....

Final update:

Ford are going to pay 40% of the final repair cost. At last some money out of them for a problem that took them far to long to sort out.

Many thanks to all that helped.

Lessons learned here is that Ford have no idea how to fix Galaxies...... Customer care is not always what it should be.
