mumof4 Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 Been away the weekend and i have found out from a friend that that... <words cannot describe> who was looking after the kids, apart from breaking my washing machine and leaving the house looking like a tornado has whipped through it a few times, drove my car knowing that he wasnt insured to drive it ( he has no other car insurance) and did not have permission to use it .Can i report him? Why would i want to do this? because hes a &*$% Quote
insider Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 Of course you can report him and they'll probably send someone around to warn him. However, without hard evidence that it occurred it probably won't get much further than that. But, if they do warn him then that should be on record and the consequences of any similar future actions should be more severe. Quote
mumof4 Posted October 29, 2007 Author Report Posted October 29, 2007 What about a witness though?as she saw him pull up on saturday.he had 5 kids in the car!! Quote
insider Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 It would certainly add weight to the case but the police and CPS will make a decision on whether or not to prosecute based on many factors, including his previous record, the chances of winning the case, etc.I can understand your fury as your kids' safety was at stake but perhaps just a warning from the police would be enough to prevent it happening again? mumof4 Posted October 29, 2007 Author Report Posted October 29, 2007 He already has 9 points on his licence for speeding,it wasnt just my kids he put at risk, it was my mates aswell...she didnt know he wasnt insured to drive . Quote
mikeohope Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 Now if he had parked on a yellow line no doubt they would throw the book at him!!!!!!!! because its easy pickings This country is beginning to p*s* me off big time. Quote
mumof4 Posted October 29, 2007 Author Report Posted October 29, 2007 I have called the police......and they say they will send someone round. If i get no joy with them, i will be in touch with the RAF police and i will make damn sure i am heard. He drove with no insurance. He took my car without permission. He knows how furious i am, his excuse was that he run out of bread and milk. The shop is a 10 min walk away.According to the eldest he used the car several times over the weekend. You are right mike..this country is crap, but im gonna make sure there is a papertrail. Quote
gaznlou Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 The Police, will probably put this back to you asking if you want to proscute, him or not, you would be better off putting a piece of 2by 2 round his head. Quote
sparky Paul Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 There are two specific offences here, driving without insurance, and taken without owner's consent. Generally, Police are pretty keen on TWOC if the offender is caught in possession, but I would have thought they would still like to prosecute if there are reliable independent witnesses. If damage was caused to the vehicle during the time it was taken, then this could technically be classed as 'aggravated taking' which would carry a more severe penalty. Quote
