Hi folks.

YES, YES AND YES!

I got the booster heater working!

Pre soaked the bolts in WD-40 a couple of days ago.

Got the unit removed from the car without any hick ups.

Thats when the problems started though.

Most of the bolts on the unit where heavily corroded.

Decided to remove the unit altogether so clamped and disconnected coolant hoses.

This made life a lot easier getting the rest done. Then found a broken wire.

Thanks must go to my dad here for his assistance in getting those problem bolts undone.

There where a couple of times where I was ready for giving up at this point.

Anyway, got them undone and changed the glow plug.

Put it all back together and fixed the broken wire.

I know the wire may have been the only fault but I had the new glow plug anyway so in it went.

Bridged the sensor wires under the wiper arms to fool it into thinking it was cold.

Fingers crossed, started the engine.

After a couple of failed starts the heater struck up.

Burnt my finger on the units exhaust. Silly me.

So after about 5 hours, most of which was spent undoing problem bolts, a result.

If it can be done on my 11 year old Gal then it can be done on any TDI Gal.

Anyway. Thanks to all you guys and gals that run this site.

Without you lot I wouldn't have even known there was a heater there. LOL

You all deserve medals.

THANK YOU!
