mumof4 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Not sure if these links will help..But they are just a few out of hundreds http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cruise-control2.htm http://misterfixit.com/cruise1.htm http://www.popularmechanics.com/how_to_cen...ve/1272586.html http://www.2carpros.com/how_does_it_work/cruise_control.htm Quote
big_kev Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Hi Mike, The brake and clutch switches are just simple normally open/closed switches. If either is pressed then cruise control will disengage, should be easy to check with a simple meter. Most problems on the petrol engines seem to be related to the vacuum pipes. see here http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=7897 Also do a search on the forum for cruise control there is lots of info especially relating to the petrol variants. Ignore the references to the diesel as their cruise control is very much simpler. Quote
mikej Posted October 24, 2007 Author Report Posted October 24, 2007 (edited) Cheers folks checked the pipes to pump etc and fitted brand new pump which is working on the bench but not in situ , this is an ogoing pain in the arse anyway the latest after ripping the bloody dash apart is as follows: when you reach the required speed and set cruise there is a definite click from beneath the dash from the cc module which i may add i have now found after hours of searching (ON A MANUAL MK2 GAL PETROL IT CAN BE FOUND DIRECTLY ABOVE THE PEDALS UNDER THE DASH ) but alas no cruise control . If you then slide the resume on the stalk there is a buss from the passenger footwell as long as you hold the resume this buzzing can be heard , possibly the pump engaging but too faint to tell. The crazy thing is the cruise did actually work but was intermittant due to a siezed pump after i changed the pump its all gone pear shaped , also checked the pedal switches and all ok . Any help would be great :blink:Thanks to those who have already replied. Edited October 24, 2007 by mikej Quote
