This is sort of aimed more at Alhambra/Sharan drivers more than Galaxy but help from anyone is welcomed with open arms.

Having owned the Ally for a couple of weeks i have noticed that if the two cup holders are in use with a couple of cans or cups it is almost impossible to use or even see for that matter the radio

IIRC on the Gal i had the radio was a bit lower down so not such a problem.

My question is

Is it possible to swap the radio with the little storage thingy that is underneath the radio, so the radio is a bit lower down and the storage thingy is higher up behind the cup holders (does that make any sense). :D

I know nothing is imposible but was wondering if any of you folks could give any advice on this please.

On the MarkI Galaxy, the cubby is at the bottom and is easily removed to gain access to semi-concealed screws which keep the outer trim attached to the sub-frame.

I installed a two-piece system some time back (now reverted to the original unit) and struggled to fit/remove those screws.

Also, on the Gal, the back of the radio unit has a plastic male thingamajig which locks into a slot on the bulkhead to stop the radio tilting, I guess.

Your Alhambra would be similar to the Galaxy MkII, so not sure whether fixing points have changed, but just a couple of things to bear in mind.

Hi Steve, thanks for the info on the stereo. Had a feeling i could be swapped but diddnt want to start taking things apart without someones opinion on the job.

Nah keeping the factory rims (for now  ) as they look good and the tyres are like new.

cheers

Yup it was dead easy, just a case of swapping the two over as Steve pointed out.

I even managed to fit the kids DVD player in the storage compartment to save it getting knocked about under the seats.

Looks like i managed to knock a wire off from the back of the stereo tho cos the multi changed has stopped working.

O well a job for the morning i guess.
