28i Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 (edited) In the last few years Ive had a few old school motors, I wish I still had the Mexico and RS2000, theyve probably double in value since I sold them ;) I still have this Capri and its waiting to be put back on the road and needs a gearbox rebuild http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/fasterfords/Cars/HPIM0784Small.jpg The Mexico was stripped out and running a 300+ bhp Cossie turbo motor http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/fasterfords/Cars/HPIM0706Small.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/fasterfords/Cars/Mexico/HPIM0436.jpg The RS2000 was very original, sold it for Edited October 17, 2007 by 28i Quote
adrianf. Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Aye they were good old motors, dont make em like that anymore. The closest i came to a good old fast motor ( but not a ford )was a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. It was really quick in a straight line but trying to get the sodding thing to stop or go around corners was a nightmare. At the same time i had a Pug 205 GTI 1.9 which is known for being a nippy little motor but the Sunbeam would leave it standing. Adrian. Quote
gregers Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 fastest car ive ever owned was a nissan cherry zx turbo, bloody hell it was quick oh those were the days, when you didnt have to worry about the speed cameras. Quote
jkspoff Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I had a Fiat Uno Turbo as a student, quick in a straight line, and 125mph top end, looking back at it, even if I was to step into a brand new one today, I would be very cautious as it had no safety features at all.A friend of mine had a Maestro Turbo which was even quicker, I believe it was about 6.3secs to 60 and 130mph top end, it left mine standing, stupidly quick and cost him more to insure 3rd party than it was worth, but was well worth it, as it was quicker than nearly everything else on the road at the time. 28i Posted October 17, 2007 Author Report Posted October 17, 2007 On 185/60 road tyres the Mexico ran a 13 second 1/4 mile, which is Ferrari 360 times, it had a lot more potential too. A guy on the other forum I use has one and his runs 10 seconds 1/4, which are Veyron speed. Quote
Smilge Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 (edited) Oooooohhhhh ....... PROPER cars ..... That Mexico must have been awesome. I had a Mk1 Escort with flared wheel arches and 1100 engine ..... never went anywhere cos I couln't afford the wheels ...lol. I must admit though, if I saw a Mk4 2.3 Cortina today I'd have it just like that. Seen what I'm buying now 28i? ...hee hee Edited October 18, 2007 by Bleeno Quote
