burundi Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 I've had my Sharan two years this month and today, for the very first time, I realised that it has a variable timed intermittent front wiper. Switch front wiper to intermittent. give a few seconds Switch it off again wait 4 seconds switch it on and you now have an intermittent wipe of 4 seconds. whatever the pause between switching it off and on again will be the time between intermittent wipes. I presume there is a maximum and minimum amount of time for the intermittent wipe but I was in a queue of traffic and couldn't play too much. Do other cars do this as this is the first time I have seen this feature on anything. Quote
NikpV Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 AFAIK the mk 1 galaxies have this feature - the MK2 have 3 set intevals Quote

tiny Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 (edited) I posted this a while ago in the thread "What do you hate about your Galaxy" or something like that. Was it too simple to fit a variable switch like anyone else? I mean come on, switch it on, wait required time, switch it off, switch it on, nope too slow, switch it on, wait required time, switch it off, switch it on, damn too fast, switch it on, wait required time, switch it off, switch it on, too slow again, switch it on, wait required time, switch it off, switch it on, ah just right, nope raining slightly harder, switch it on, wait required time, switch it off, switch it on, now its just spitting again, switch it on, wait required time, switch it off, switch it on, FFS the rains stopped. If you havent sussed it by now i think the bloke who designed the Mk1 intermittent wipers was- a ) At best trying to "over egg the pudding"b ) A complete and utter to55erc ) Probably a woman Edited October 16, 2007 by tiny Quote

Of course a multi position switch as in the Mk2 Galaxy, in BMW's etc was far too restrictive and didn't require any R&D allocation in the extensive buget justification. Also there would have been no bonus for the given to the aspirring rocket scientist.. not that I too am a cynic..... B) Quote
Sher Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 It is like many features on the Sharan/ Galaxy/Alhambra far more complex than it needs to be and hence more difficult and expensive to fix than the average car. Having said that I will not be changing it for another beast until something I judge to be better overall is available. Quote

dipsomaniac Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 took me 3 months to realise i had a cd changer in the back Quote
KP 115 Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 It is infact the relay that controls the intermitant wipe function & this is common to a lot of older audi's & vw cars Quote
