Iansterl Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Hi, I'm new here so bear with me, I have a Gal 2.3 Ghia auto, V reg, (2000) After recently paying out to have the A/C re-gassed, the garage instructed me that there was no power going into the aircon compressor, I have checked all the fuses and they seem all OK. So next step was to look at the relays, reading through this forum , I believe I'm looking for relay 5, however I can't find this in the Haynes manual or even on the Gal it'self. The Haynes manual say to look under the battery, I've looked but can't see any banks of relays. Can anyone help me out, not sure if I'm on the right path with the relays, should I be looking else where for a fault. Thanks in advance Ian. Quote

big_kev Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Mk1 Fuses and Relays http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=14257 actually Mk1 post 98 model I think you will find it was Post 97 models. ( possibly post 96 ) But you are correct in as much as that I should have made it clear that when the amendment took place. Quote
mk2vr6 Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 98+ models the latter style cjb was bought out in 98 Quote
big_kev Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Mine was registered in Jan 1998 which makes it post 1997. My owners supplement showing the changes is dated 1997. It is quite likely that some 97 models (post 96) were equipped the same..... It is possible that mine could have been one of the first batch but it obviously is post 97 at the very latest. Quote
Iansterl Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 Hi Ian, A question first is you vehicle a MK1 or MK2 ? I not sure what model I have, reading through the responses I would say a MK II, as a newbiee on this forum I can't access any of the images view or download, so if any one can give a written description it would be much appreciated. Thanks again Quote

Saif Rehman Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 If you still cannot view the pictures then you could try googling the word 'Ford Galaxy' - make sure you pick the 'images' tab first. Quote

Iansterl Posted October 14, 2007 Author Report Posted October 14, 2007 I have had a look at the fuse and relay diagram pictures, I can see no mention which relay is for the compressor for the aircon unit. Has any had previous problems with no power to the compressor? Thanks in advance Ian Quote
big_kev Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Relay 12 as shown in the link. Either fuse 27 or 28...not sure which. Quote
seatkid Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Relays are on a "3rd level" behind the main fuse panel, which must be removed to gain acces to these levels....there is a thread with pictures illustrating this disaasembly if you search. However, it is likely the problem you have is the 3 way pressure switch which is located on top of the dryer - behind the front towing eye. It may be disconnected, faulty or alternatively your system may have been incorrectly regassed (too liitle or too much gas) in which case the switch prevents the compressor from being damaged. Quote
