What Oil In High Milage M3 Mondeo

can anyone tell me what oil i can put in my mondeo.when i changed the oil and filter 6 weeks ago i put in the proper synthetic oil. and it has started to make noises like it is pinking and the seems to be a rattle which sounds like tht timing chain when it gets warm. the car has done 130.000 it drives great and i was wondering if i can use a thicker oil. my mate has the same car with the same milage and he put a cheap oil in out of asda and it sounds great
