charlize2001 Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 (edited) Hi We finally got our car back at last after 4 weeks! In response to symmy's message. We didn't use either topgear or D&K transmissions. We was recommended to try another 'specialist' (who I won't name but are in a village not far from where D&K transmissions are based) as apparently they used to be good at fixing auto gearboxes. Now I hear from ppl in the business that they only hear of problems there nowadays. We was told by the garaqe to get another ECU last week so we went over to lichfield last week and bought a ECU from 'just affords' scrappy again ( Edited October 23, 2007 by charlize2001 Quote
charlize2001 Posted November 12, 2007 Author Report Posted November 12, 2007 Quote from Seatkid's reply: Does it work in manual?I would hazard a guess that the problem might be a slow or sticking solenoid valve in the control block on the auto box. If the gearchange is too slow, the engine ECU will think there is a fault. Can the control block be stripped and flushed clean? After all the problems we had and thought we'd finally got it sorted it is now playing up again. Looks as though Seatkid was right in his early suggestion of the solenoid's. The car has been shooting away when we're not even applying any accelaration, not quite going into gear when it should and also the revs go right up when trying to engage in third gear. Also wouldn't go into manual 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears. My partner took it to a mate's garage to hook it up to diagnostics. On the way there the gears stuck suddenly at 40m.p.h as though he had braked, throwing him forward. Looks like the "specialist" auto repair garage didn't replace the solenoid's as solenoid A is where the problem is. Unfortunately that damn garage didn't do what he said he'd done and charged us for doing. It's going back to him tomorrow who knows what damage he'll cause this time! We are not giving him another penny though! Quote
Herts Hammer Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 If he charged you for work that you can prove wasn't done, there's no way on earth I'd give it back to him to put right. I'd be much more inclined to get the remedial work done elsewhere and then send him the bill, persuing him through the small claims courts too if necessary. Quote
