After reading about on the forums I understand that a key fob can be programmed for each specific car, which seems the most cost effective option rather than having 'fraud' do it (quoted

Fobs you may be able to get on Ebay...as for key cutting..some may, some may not....ive not had experience of this bit so cant comment but i know a few peeps have been to somewhere like timpsons????..or whatever they are called and got a key cut.,,IIRC..you need two keys to programme a third..not sure on that one though.

Righto thanks for that, I've been looking at eBay and there are some fobs up, but not sure which ones would suit my Gal. Would it be safe to assume that a similar looking fob would work? (I currently have the one with 2 blip buttons & key)

 

I guess I will have to do some more reading around to see whether you need two keys to programme a third or whether it's just possible via one.

as MUMof4 stated you need 2 keys to program a third (and up to 8) keys to the PATS module, on earlier cars a red security key was all that was needed.

 

You only need a single key to program the remote loacking i.e. the key you are progarmming although up to a maximum of 4 per vehicle are permitted by the GEM system

 

(PATS = Passive anti theft - needed to get the car to run

 

GEM = General(or Generic IIRC elecrtonic module) - needed to operate the remote central locking)

not for the pats you cant, Gregers even tried putting the same key in twice to fool it but it didn't work :lol: :lol:

But can main dealer do it ok . I only have one key and looking at another off E bay but dont wanna get it if they cant do it.

Oh yes main dealer can do it using the wds system - vag-com can do it but you need several detailed bits of information from the dealer. They seem to want to charge an hours labour -- Edited October 7, 2007 by NikpV

Hi Guys,

Just been reading through this thread and thought i would add this info i have just "purchased off of Ebay regarding Gakaxy Keys.

 

How To Program Ford Galaxy Remote Keys

 

 

 

Hold key in drivers door lock, turn to unlock 3 times, this illuminates red light in driver's door.

 

Press and hold the unlock button on key and press the lock button 3 times to get light in driver's door flashing again.

 

You galaxy remote key should now be programmed.You should also note that if you successful program your fob you will need to do the second one straight after and before the door LED goes out, as programing clears the existing ones from memory.

thanx for this info worked a treat on mine.but wont start the engine with the recoded key(locks and unlocks which it did not do b4)but does with the red 1.

Hi All

 

I got a seat fob of ebay I have tryed to progam it to me 98 R plate Gal 2.0l GLX but when i do the unlock three times nothing happens ie the led dose not come on

 

any can any one help?
