paul_scandrett Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 Hi. Somebody rather helpfully destroyed my passenger side mirror last night whilst the Gal was parked outside my house. Have removed mirror (what was left anyway) and the fitting that is attached to the door is smashed. Will need a complete new mirror which I have seen on e-bay. Two main questions: (1) Is e-bay the best place (cheapest) to get a new mirror (want new)? (2) How do you connect the electricals (heated and powered)? All help gratefully received. Paul Quote
big_kev Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 Hi Paul, Hopefully this will help MK2_Door_Trim.pdf MK2_Mirror_Removal.pdf Quote
paul_scandrett Posted October 7, 2007 Author Report Posted October 7, 2007 Kev Many thanks. Looks fairly easy (just like all manuals!). Will follow on arrival of mirror. cheers Paul Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 Anyone know the easiest way to remove the painted cover off the back of the mirror housing? I've lost the knack of hitting my carport post at exactly the right angle to do this, and attempts with screwdrivers to prise it off have so far proved unsuccessful Quote
big_kev Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 Does the mirror glass on the MK2's unclip the same way as the MK1's ( screwdriver up it bum ). If so removing mirror glass will give access to clips holding on painted cover. Quote
mumof4 Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 IIRC Ivor..Fold the mirror in, then you will see a black bit which is near the bit which connects to the car..which if i remember you unclip first..the whole cover is just clipped on, you have to gently prise it away from the housing..but be warned there is one big clip in the middle which you cant see and will need a bit of force to undo.Trying to remember how i took mine off..will see if i saved the pics. What i do know is that you need to fold the mirror in to gain access to the first bit. the glass itself has connectors on the back for heated and electric movement.... mumof4 Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 It will come off hun....you will have to prise that first clip out......trying to think..Think it was Bleeno that first told me how to get the cover off...and im sure there is a PDF file somewhere....will have a gander. Quote
