Hi can anyone offer advice. I recently parked my galaxy on the roadside with two wheels on the road and two on the pavement while I went to price some tyres. I came out to turn the vehicle around but it would not run. When turning the ignition key it would fire for half a second then cut out. This happens every time I try.The remote fob didnt appear to be flashing very brightly so I changed the batterys but that didnt make any difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Dave

i think you are going to have to give folks an idea of what car/year/petrol/diesel etc does the led on the drivers door do - maybe its an immobiliser problem

The immobiliser chip has possibly fallen out of your key (when you opened it?).

Use your spare key to confirm.

in that case I reckon SK is correct IIRC the diesel variant will start and die and not run if the PATS chip is missing IIRC petrol variants wont start at all

the problem was there before I fitted the batterys and i think the chip is still in place. I only have one key which I use to start the car.the other two will only open the doors. The ignition key hasnt operated the central locking for some time.

Cheers again Dave

Have a look here check the chip is in - if it iss thn try turning it round, it ma be a relay problem - look in the faq item 22 IIRC

Hi guys,

I found another key which started the car what a relief. I now have 4 keys , 1 which starts the car 1 which used to start the car with the bouttons on and 2 which open the doors. Any ideas how I can get the main key to operate the central locking remotely and start the car again.

Thanks for all the replies,

cheers again Dave
