Towbar Wiring (again)

I have searched but can't find an answer to this:

 

I have a 54 plate Galaxy Ghia 130ps TDi. I want to wire up 13pin tow electrics. I bought a plug in kit but it was for the pre-facelift model. Now I am more than able to remove the plugs on the cable I have and splice it into the normal wiring (although I would probably fit a y-cable using some connectors from Maplins). Anyhow my questions are:

 

1. Are there any relays etc that I need to fit/change as well?

2. Will I need to use VAGCOM to do anything?

You have to use VagCom to activate the indicator repeater light in the instrument cluster if you would rather have that than the bleeper warning.

Why not return the kit and buy the correct one?

 

If you splice the cables you will require a by-pass relay or you will have problems with your bulb failure system.

 

Using a by-pass relay you will have to put up will the buzzer, the power for trailer socket lights is taken from another live via the by-pass relay and not the cars lighting circuits(only a signal feed is taken from the cars circuits) thus unable to detect the extra load for the dash warning light
