marcus297 Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Hi All, New to this forum, have read a few posts and you all seem very friendly. I have looked through the FAQ 's and could see a post on this title any help/suggestions would be great. I have a 02 Seat Alhambra 1.9 tdi 115 SE, previously i had a 97 2.3 GhiaX Galaxy (though i admit i strayed from the path of righteousness and had a Passat Estate in between) and curiously i had the same problem on both in that the heated seats in the front on the drivers side has stopped working the passenger side is okay, currently! I have checked the fuses and both seats are on the same fuse!! Before i start ripping the seat apart looking for any obvious damage has anyone got any quick simple things i should check first and is this a common problem, clearly i'd rather not replace the whole seat at Quote
adrianf. Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Ive just bought the same car as you on an 03 plate Its the first car ive had with heated seats and i LOVE EM. Got me worried now tho incase they pack up Quote
big_kev Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 First check the obvious that it hasn't just become unplugged ( or the cables are damaged ) under the seat....check for voltage when seat switched on/off. If your seat rotates then possibly this has led to the damage. Also check both the seat and backrest to see if either of them gets warm. I have heard that the heated seats can be damaged by extreme pressure ,not just by a fat person, but by someone ( bloke ) sitting on the seat with an object ( wallet with button ) in his back pocket, this can place a pressure point onto the seat damaging the heater. mumof4 Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Having been in a car with heated seats....they are the baboons danglies! Quote
seatkid Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 My driver heated seat packed in under warranty. I thought it was the fuse, but the dealer told me the element (pad) had gone. They replaced the pad which must slide out. I would check there is 12 volt at the connector to the seat before you start pulling it apart though. Quote
marcus297 Posted October 6, 2007 Author Report Posted October 6, 2007 Thanks all gives me something to be going on with !! sounds as though its a reasonably common problem you'd have thought the designers would have come up with something a little more robust than something that can be damaged by someone sitting on the seat (after all the clue is in the name) with a wallet in his or her back pocket !!!!!! thanks again i'll have a tinker and let you know if i get it sorted regards Mark Quote

marcus297 Posted October 6, 2007 Author Report Posted October 6, 2007 Strange that i was thinking exactly that as i typed the last post. Even stranger though is the fact that my seat started working, albeit only briefly, this afternoon!!! must be a loose connection somewhere, Aside from this very minor niggle i'm very pleased with my Truck!!
