big_kev Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Came accross this interesting little site. Garbidgegate: a Stealth Tax Compendium Got to admit I was stunned to see how badly we have been ripped off . I knew they were bad but didn't realise the full extent. p.s. do you realise that some of your Council Tax goes toward Party Funds ! Quote
big_kev Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 (edited) Here comes another one.. Rubbish Tax........literally ! Edited October 30, 2007 by big_kev Quote
big_kev Posted November 11, 2007 Author Report Posted November 11, 2007 This is a sneaky one.....technically theft rather than tax.. If there are any bank or savings accounts which have not been activated for fifteen years then Labour are proposing to take the money for their own use..! And another example..... Average cost of a flight to New York 1997.... Quote
mumof4 Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 junk food is cheaper than healthy food, if they taxed junk food then there should be a lowering in price of healthy food. But no doubt they wont as if junk food price increases then healthy food will seem cheaper when in reality it isnt and people will still be worse off, and im thinking about those on the poverty line like me ( according to the government ) Quote

sappers Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 This is my first post on any subject on any forum anywhere (ta-daa) but going further on tax and tax again, upon purchase of a new car you are charged vat and if said car is broken up a few years later then said breaker also charges vat? and who gets all this vat? Quote
big_kev Posted November 11, 2007 Author Report Posted November 11, 2007 VAT will go to the government. It is complicated but basically a company will pay VAT on its puchases and charge VAT on its sales. If the Sales are larger than the Purchases ( one would think this would be the normal condition ) then this difference is payable to the government. Try here VAT for more info. Quote
