Guest Ross Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I've just got 505 miles from full to the warning light, this included around 400 miles on cruise control at between 75-80mph and the rest around town, how does that sound to the rest of teh TDI guys out there, especially bearing in mind mine is an Auto as some manual guys seem to be getting phemominal MPG? I'm getting just under 40mpg from my 6-speed manual on a basic "diet" of 5-mile stop-start drive to work, and 7 mile varied journey home including about 1 1/2 miles on the M3. (Different route to and from work due to traffic situation in town centre).The few long trips I've made where I've got to 60mph or more for a number of miles generally give an indicated average of around 47mpg. NikpV Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Sounds about the same as ours - usually get about 450 from full to warning with short, kids here and there + shopping all - short trips 4-8 miles usually from cold. I've found the cruise control more economical generally on the flat (its better than me at easing off at the cut off speed) on hilly sections it generally does do any better I presume because I use the downs to build up speed and so use less fuel going up the other side??. Can usually get over 500+ with a decent stretch of m-way. Nik Quote

Guest bizarrefish Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 I have a 2003 1.9 TDI 6 Speed Galaxy since December and for the last 2 months I have been using the trip computer avidly to try and work out what I can do. The day to day 18mile jaunt to work and back I am managing to get from 38 - 47 mpg on average. This last tank of fuel I have just used I managed to get 550 to the fuel warning light.
