mumof4 Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Hi, you need to remove the bezels first (these are the bits the fingers curl around on the inner part of the handle), these can be removed by levering them off with a blunt knife or flat bladed screwdriver. They are only clipped in. The rest you can lever out (again only clipped), the same way. Hope this helps. If not will post some pics. I do have a spare set somewhere which i was going to redo. Quote

I do have a spare set somewhere which i was going to redo.Mumof4, can you show me some pics, I want to do it by myself. Thanks!! :o I just replaced mine today, simple job as mumof4 says. Simply lever off the bezel with a flate blade, then lever the handle upwards and it clips off. Then either disconnect the little plug from from each window switch or use a small flat screwdriver to release the catches on the electric window buttons and they will pop out of the handle. As they say in the Haynes manuals, "refitting is a reversal of removal". Front passenger side took about 3 mins and drivers side took about 10 because it had the extra rear window buttons. Simple job which really smartens up the interior as my anthracite handles had worn away to leave an 'in your face' beige colour underneath. The cost of new replacement from Ford probably works out cheaper than buying the primer and top coat paint and is certainly a helluva lot quicker to do than painting them. Quote
musicman2007hk Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Mumof4, I did it during the new year holiday. It is easy to remove the handle from the door. However it's not easy for me to re-paint it. By the way I keep the orginal look. (no painting) Wish you all the best!! Quote
