mattc Posted October 2, 2007 Author Report Posted October 2, 2007 Hi again, Thanks Mum and I'm glad to say I'm now very HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY.Yes I know you should always do the searches, but after days of reading post after post I all most gave up. Then I found a post describing where I was going wrong, so I will explain....First I bought the cheapo cable from good old eBay, I went for the serial type because of people saying the usb type not being reliable. Then I bought a serial to usb adaptor so it could work on my laptop.Right here we go I thought and proceeded to connect it up to the car, it seamed to connect OK and I ran the connection test which came up OK, but when I tried to run the system scan it would go through the motions and on the final screen it just went blank. This is when I went MENTAL...... so I went on the net to find out if I had the wrong cable or if I was doing anything wrong and UREAKEA I found a post describing some one else having the same problem and the solution was the serial to usb adaptor is not compatible, so I closed the laptop and proceeded to bundle the desktop PC into the car because the it had a serial port, then I installed the software and connect the vag-com cable and YIPEE we have lift off.....So the answer is to do the searches, but be prepared to read every post word for word if you need a answer...Can I thank Mumof4, Johnr and orange for my broadband connection :16: Cheers Matt. Quote
