Vag Com Lead

hope you can help me pls

I have a ford galaxy 19 tdi 1999 t reg and am looking for a lead to conect to my laptop to my car

as anyone got any ideas pls

ebay , go for a usb type and posted in the uk, i got one for

I went down the ebay route and bought a cheap lead made by Autosonics. I've tried loading their driver for it, and I've tried the Ross-Tech drivers for third party dumb interfaces. Not a sausage! Apparently the Ross Tech 409.1 software assigns a Com port to it, even though it is USB. In my case Com Port 3. The USB driver shows up on Com port 3, but there is no talking to the Vag Com program.

Has anyone been through this scenario who could offer some help, or should I give up and buy a Ross-Tech cable (are they available in the UK).

i had this kind of problem. i downloaded the earlier program 311 or something similar and mine now works.
