Have taken the Galaxy to two Ford dealers now no luck with the CC .

I have spoken to 2 x VW dealers both have the same story ,

To put the car on there system you have to enter the vin no,

or there system reads the vin no of the ECU.

This is to make sure VW cars are serviced at VW, Audi at Audi and so on,

VW say this meens they can not order parts or read fault codes other than VW

Is this true ?

My location is Shepshed Loughborough

The procedure I have is a bit vague but you could try it if you can find someone with VAG-COM or get it yourself. Alternatively, I'm sure the Ford Dealers can access the engine module and enter the unlock code for you if they are willing to try.

TO CHECK WHETHER OR NOT C/C IS ENABLED

Select the engine control module 01

Read data function 08

Read group 06

(this is where it gets a bit vague)

A batch of numbers will be displayed. The fourth group of numbers on the far right of the display will be either "0" or "255".

"0" = cruise control enabled

"255" = cruise control disabled

TO ENABLE C/C

Select the engine control module 01

Login 11

Enter the unlock code 11463

(then use the steps above to confirm that "255" changed to "0")

Hi

Can anyone tell me the 'effects' of having the cruise control not enabled, other than it does not work!

I have a 51 2.3l auto Galaxy which came with several problems and although under warranty, I have sorted smaller problems out with help from your Forum but am left with no cruise control. 3 attempts have been made to sort it without any progress made (including a Fraud garage) and are blaming a wiring fault.

I have had a check of the electrics and there is no 12v to the column switch, but feeding 12v onto this wire does not switch on the CC. The wiring has been checked as far as possible without taking the dash apart and that is OK.

Does this mean the auto control box and the CC have faults or is it disabled?

I am unable to access the 01 engine module via VAG-com cos its a Ford engine so can not check if the CC is enabled.

Can anyone offer any help.

Cruise control is not enabled / disabled in the ECU on the Ford engines. This is specific to the VW engines which are "drive-by-wire" so the speed can be directly controlled by the (VW) ECU.

On the 2.3 engine the speed is set by an actuator on the throttle body. Search the forum - there are many posts relating to cruise control on this engine.
