paj Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 I'm looking to get a transponder chip for my remote key as it was missing from inside the remote key when I bought the car (2001 51 Galaxy). Is it possible to buy just the chip or do you have to buy the whole key, then get it cut and programmed as Ford have said ( Quote
paj Posted September 24, 2007 Author Report Posted September 24, 2007 No, only have the one key which disarms immobiliser. I have 2 other additional standard keys which just open the doors. I believe they have transponders in them, but key casing is moulded plastic and not accessible. Quote
NikpV Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) well you could slice one of them open  your problem is going to be the programming ... you are going to have to get ford to match your keys for which they will probably charge you Edited September 24, 2007 by NikpV Quote
paj Posted September 24, 2007 Author Report Posted September 24, 2007 vag-com can program keys but you need codes and things  Thanks for all the info. Who/what is vag-com? Quote
NikpV Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 vag-com - interface/software to talk to the car (without the use of a hammer  ) Quote
ole Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 (edited) Doesn't a locksmith (or what ever you call it, I am norwegian  ) also program this , and for less money than the BIG Ford? Picture of my key with the transponder taken out before putting it into an aftermarket remote... http://home.no.net/bilting/ford/transponder.JPG Edited September 26, 2007 by ole Quote
