I,d just like to say thanks to everyone who helped in the above matter.

It was the passenger side that had seized.

Having broken it and replaced with a new one i still wanted to release the old one. Well it was really seized, eventually got it out using a vice. If only i'd have taken a bit more time i'd be

Mine have started with this creeping, in fact since yesterday they haven't moved at all :lol:

 

I have managed to find a second hand unit (

Well that was a mare!

 

Started at 8am Sat Morning, stripped old ones out - had to remove quite a bit of stuff to get to them - went to fit the set i'd bought - and they were wrong! They had 4 bolts, mine have 3 :wub:

 

So I decided to put the old ones back on and try to free them by operationg them and squirting some lube down the shaft - still no good, off they came again.

 

They were properly siezed, took about 1/2 hour of smacking with a hammer, and despite putting a nut on the thread I still managed to damage them :o

 

So I had another plan, use the spindles from the set I bought, but they were longer than mine :wub:

 

So eventually after a lot of fiddling, I managed to get the nuts back on - just!, but I still need new spindles as the nuts are only just hanging on (any ideas if they are available seperate????)

 

All in all it took me 6 hours - wife and kids not too impressed coz i'd promised them a day at Blackpool - which turned out to be a quick walk through the lights!

 

Morale of the story - check which wiper linkage you have, and don't plan to have a day out the same day as you fit them!

oh dear.......mustnt hit them with a hammer..not the done thing.The thread i did on mine with loads of help and advice from the peeps on here helped me a great deal.might be worth a read to see if it can help you.

I'll try and run a die down them. There was literally no other way but to give them a good smacking :wacko:

IIRC a copper head hammer is the one to use.....i wasnt allowed to use my big claw hammer on it..though it will be used in the near future maybe on something a bit softer!..

Mum of 4's thread on the wiper situation really helped me, and I am so useless with cars.... In fact I would say I am the worst, but the people on this thread are a great help. There is so much info on here to help, and if you search find and read, and have a go, they are only too happy to help.

 

Up to now I have repaired my wipers - Linkage and motor, drop links, amogst a couple of othere things.
