paulpa66 Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Tonight i got a smell of burning, the wipers slowed down so i guess there ise a problem with the motor? Any ideas or can someone point me in right direction? Quote
adrianf. Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Do a search for wipers. There are loads of posts on here about this common problem so dont worry your not the only one. Quote

seatkid Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 What is the fault, far too much to read? is it the motor or linkage? easy or difficult fix? Seizing linkage, go tell a neighbour...maybe he'll read up on it for you. Quote
gregers Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 iirc if you do a search in the faqs in tech section there will be a fix for you. Quote
paulpa66 Posted September 23, 2007 Author Report Posted September 23, 2007 Great forum, why not just put a title RTFM! Like i say a bit too much chit chat rather than direct helpfull text. Ahh well only asked the question. Quote

seatkid Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 (edited) Read the guidelines for trainee members Also when someone says read the FAQ or search because there are tons of posts on the subject don't be surprised at someone's reaction when you say "What is the fault, far too much to read? " People give their time here for free, and its far too valuable to give every newbie their own customised detailed treatise for something that is asked almost on a daily basis. So in this case RTFAQ....it may even tell you how to fix your problem..... :16: ....and welcome to the forum ;) Edited September 23, 2007 by seatkid Quote

Kind of pointless having a forum then.Just post a FAQ rather than letting peole post threads.I'm more than happy to read through posts, but when 70% of the thread is non related to its title, kind of makes it hard work! big_kev Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Is this be cruel to newbies week ?....remember we were all newbies once. The FAQ is not very indicated to and moist new members do not know of its existence. I know we see the same questions time and time again but new members may think that their problem is unique. Can we try to be a little more understanding. Just my little bit of advice.......before it gets out of hand again and we start talking "pizza's". Kev Quote

mumof4 Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Great forum, why not just put a title RTFM! Like i say a bit too much chit chat rather than direct helpfull text. Ahh well only asked the question. chit chat as you call it is what keeps a forum going, along side members helping each other. There is banter in all walks of life. WE are here to help and most of what we know has been passed down from one member to another or learnt the hard way. A smell of burning i would guess would point towards the motor being burnt out.Usually there are symptoms before this happens. yes we were all new once, and usually newbies dont bother with searching and post their problems..this is fine. But you have searched, but didnt like the banter in the threads so didnt bother reading the threads..that is what got some members backs up. paulpa66 Posted September 24, 2007 Author Report Posted September 24, 2007 Thanks for the help, i,ll remove the linkage from the car. Is it just a case of repsitioning the wipers on the shaft in their home position after reassembly or is it a little more complicated? Quote
mumof4 Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 It is an idea to mark on the screen where the wipers llay, and also make sure the linkage is in the park position before you put it back into the car, you do this by connecting it up.then carefully holding it and turn the ignition to the first click, if the linkage is out of sync it will go into the correct position.Watch your fingers.
