Hi all

Hoping somone may be able to help as I am running out of ideas. I have the car booked in for a diagnostic on Tuesday, but hoping to sort it out before then (fingers crossed!) The car runs fine, but then all of a sudden it will lose power, but if you put your foot down hard on the accelerator, the car jolts and power will come back. It feels as if the car is being pulled by the Incredible Hulk from behind!! It also cuts out every now and then when you are coming to a stop, for example, at traffic lights. Had advice from a friend that it may be the Mass Air Flow Sensor, but as they are over

Sorry didn't see this post at the time, if you've not managed to sort it yet here's my tale.

I had exactly the same problem with my car, it took me 6 years of replacing bits and tests etc before I found the answer :

Find the wire that runs from the lambda sensor up into the engine bay. The lamda sensor is just backwards of the the cover under the engine. It is a big nut on the exhaust pipe itself with a wire coming off it. It is hard wired at this end but at the other end of the cable, up in the engine bay, there is a plug into the rest of the loom that can come apart. Mine hardly moved when I pressed it together but it was enough to completely cure a problem which even Fords could not find the answer to..........................................surprisingly. The plug's quite hard to reach from the top but that's where you need to be after tracing it back from undreneath the car. You'll need to do this to identify the plug first.

Hope you are succesful !

I had this problem on my V6 so don't know if the same may work for you. Anyway what I found was that VAG-COM showed the error that there was an intermittent short to gorund for the MAF. When I looked at the earth wire (which sits at the middle rear of the engine, ask someone with TIS to send you a diagram of the earth points) all the protective plastic had chaffed and the bare wire was exosed and had hardened. I just re-cut the wire and wrapped plenty of electrical tape around it has solved the problem.
