mikew Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 (edited) Can anyone help, I have just bought a 2001 Ford Maverick, the accellerator pedal is sticking, this eases after you have driven for 15 minutes or so, but then when I start to drive again after being parked up overnight or parked for a long period then the problem returns, is there a cure, what is the problem? raymac Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 First make sure the pedal is not catching carpet, could be a sticky cable , or it could be the pedal itself sticking , hope this might help  Quote
chromedome Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 I had the same problem on the Maverick I had......................................is it my old one??? It's probably the throttle assembly. The "butterfly" flap sticks in the throttle body. You could try cleaning and lubricating it, but in the end I needed a new assembly. Quote
AndeeeH Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 This topic/problem was discussed in depth in the now defunct Maverick section that used to be part of the site, any chance of getting it back?? Andy. Quote
