mumof4 Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 So far hastings is the fave with legal and breakdown....confused .com i dont like as ive tried them before.Money supermarket i havent though so will give them a try. Thanks peeps. Quote
insider Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 ....confused .com i dont like as ive tried them before. You don't have to like them or even buy through them. Use them to point you in the direction of who is cheapest, then go direct! Quote
mumof4 Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 I have done before when i had the galaxy..and it seemed that whenever i rang the companies the quote was always a lot more than what confused threw up..but i shall give em another go and see what comes up. Quote
insider Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 ... whenever i rang the companies the quote was always a lot more than what confused threw up..That could be because you usually get an extra discount (10%?) for buying online. If you phone the insurance company the quote is usually more than if you use their website to get the quote. Quote
mumof4 Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 But i would quote the ref number given on line....and they would say that quotes can change from day to day.Ah well..will try it anyway. Quote
sal_park Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 prudential car insurance are currently offering 130 quid back of their insurance here(about quidco) I've used this in the past and got Quote
mumof4 Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 Thanks for that info, am looking now. Maz Quote
AndeeeH Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 You could try Norwich Union's 'Pay-as-you-Drive' insurance scheme where you only pay for the miles you do............................on second thoughts, perhaps thats not the best system for you :43: :) :43: :D Andy. Quote
pms121 Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Try the Post office I got mine down to Quote
mumof4 Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 Andy you cheeky bugger..if i did that the treaury wouldnt have to tax anyone!! i only have 2 years no claims and am still in my two year probation as i only passed last year...so i guess i wont get really cheap insurance.lol..saying that..halifax was 241!!..no legal and no breakdown and i most def need breakdown!.. Quote
gregers Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 and you also need legal,i will never have insurance again without total peace of mind. Quote

mumof4 Posted October 9, 2007 Author Report Posted October 9, 2007 Car insurance now sorted, stuck with diamond who practically matched a quote i received from Hastings.Fully comp, breakdown, legal etc. 9 payments of 51 quid a month as i get a payment break in february. Im happy with it. (10 month bonus accelerator plan) Quote
seatkid Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 Aren't these "bonus accelerator programs" just 10 month policies - i.e. a scam? Quote
mumof4 Posted October 9, 2007 Author Report Posted October 9, 2007 Nope. You pay for 10 months and it gives you a years no claims.I have been driving on a full licence for 17 months yet i have 2 years no claims. It means that my renewal comes up every 10 months instead of 12.In some cases it can be cheaper to do it over 10 months as opposed to 12 months. In August i will have 3 years no claims no claims but only been driving for 2 years 5 months. The 10 month one has the same specs as the 12 month one...also i opted for a months payment break which means that one month is spread over the other 9 months..so i make 9 payments instead of 10. seatkid Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 (edited) Hmmm......... Your'e paying Edited October 9, 2007 by seatkid Quote
adrianf. Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 Nobody gives anything for nothing nowadays Quote
mumof4 Posted October 9, 2007 Author Report Posted October 9, 2007 well, i rang hastings, and their quote is now 480 quid over 12 months with breakdown as they didnt include it in their original quote.even though i added it on the internet quote...cant quite figure it all out really, soo..even though hastings is 20 odd quid cheaper..im sticking with diamond coz it means in 10 months rather than a year i can bugger off elsewhere with 3 years no claims.
