Cisa Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 Hello peeps. First of all, sorry if my english is not that good. I'm a new member and I'm the owner of a 1999 Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI glx, wich I acquired when I was living in London. I live in sunny Algarve for a few years now. My problem is as follows. A couple of days ago, I started hearing a hissing noise coming from the fascia, where the manual air conditioning controls are. The sound is not too strong, it's very quiet in fact, enough to be heard. It starts as soon as I start the engine and stops when I turn off the engine. It also stops if, with air conditioning on, I press on the recirculated air knob.I wonder if anyone would be able to help me. I tank you all in advance Quote

mumof4 Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 A leak somewhere??, welcome cisa. Quote
Cisa Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 It's probably a leak, but the problem is where. I've never done anything in air conditioning so, I'm an absolute zero. Thanks mumof4 Quote
Dave-G Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 Is it possible for you to get down and listen very closely for a more precise location - like maybe near the brake pedal? Quote
Cisa Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 Hi Dave-G. It's defenitely behind the air conditioning controls. as I move away of them the sound gets wicker. Thanks Quote
seatkid Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 The recirculation control on manual a/c is vacuum operated. The vacuum pipe has come off the control or the nearby recirc flap. Quote
