Seatdriver Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 Hi, I have a rather annoying noise that has recently developed. As the road wheel is turned when the car is static there is an annoying creak which is coming from the top of the strut. If I hold the spring whilst the steering wheel is turned I can feel and hear a creaking sound which sounds like a dry bush. Any ideas welcome. Quote
seatkid Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 Bearing at top of strut. I believe its a common problem, search the forum for further info. Apparently a bit of a pig to undo the top nut which often is rusty - use plenty of WD40 the night before..... Quote

I usually give all work to VW dealer to carry out, is it an easy diy, or do I need spring compressors etc. If I do it will have to go to the main agents for repair. Quote
