PhilT Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Wonder if anyone has come across this. A sort of rumbling noise under the facia when you switch on the ignition so guess its an electric motor spinning and something rubbing? Quote
chazhead Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) Do you climate control? If so there is a small fan that draws cabin air in for temp monitoring (behind the CC panel I believe) this makes some interesting noises as it gets older. Well mine does anyway. No Climate Control, and its not the heating fan 'cos it still makes the noise with that switched off. Quote
chromedome Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Does it continue for a few minutes after you switch the ignition off? Could be the auxilliary water pump which is just the other side of the bulk head in the engine compartment. These are known to rumble and make noises as they are failing. Quote

This morning I had the wioper mechanism out to free it up and grease before the winter so I should have been able to tell which side of the bulkhead it was. Sods law though, it didn't do it today!!!!
