OK, I've now had enough with anything to do with cars ! I had all that trouble with my beloved Galaxy earlier this summer so I eventually got so fed up with it I traded it in for a Renault Lauguna 2.2DCI top spec model, with 50k on the clock, I had it for 2 days and the turbo blew on it, plus the gearbox feels a bit clunky, and the exhaust was rattling. I have now decided I want to reject the new used car and get my Galaxy back as I had even fewer issues with that, and I miss it !

Sooooo, anyone any idea where I stand legally, as I need to approach the garage tomorrow morning with this concept of reversing the deal, them to take back my new used car that they currently have in their repair shop having thousands of pounds worth of warranty work done on it, and give me back my Galaxy that they have also got being prepared for sale, but not yet on the market. I have a courtesy car from the garage at the moment.

Sorry for the long explanation, I hope it makes sense, but I am really needing some urgent advice on this, I hope someone can advise either from experience or knowledge...........

reject the car as not fit for purpose....if it was a straight swap then i cant see any problem..down to the garage i guess.

You could ask them politely and see what happens..if they decline then go further.

mikeohope i think has a lot of knowledge on things like this..might be worth pm/emailing him.He advised gregers and he does know his stuff.

You may be able to reject the Laguna, but getting the Galaxy back will almost certainly involve buying it back at the forecourt price. Do you have a warranty on the Laguna?

As regards the problems with your Galaxy, my understanding is that your problem is almost certainly the head gasket, and from the symptoms you described, this would have been the first thing I would have changed. This would have avoided all of the other 'problems' and the unnecessary expenditure replacing perfectly good parts.

Ok, I have had the decision from the garage now, they state that they are repairing the car and that under no circumstances will they accept a 'reject of vehicle', or accept it as a trade in. So I will just have to see how the repair goes, and all I can say is this:

Never ever ever ever buy a car from CarCra#t, they are awful at customer service, they sell vehicles that are of very poor quality and they are a complete cowboy outfit. I checked out the internet and it appears that they are well known to Trading Standards and WatchDog alone have recieved over 1000 complaints in 6 months !

I may just buy back the Galaxy when they eventually get their act together and put it on the market. I have the new V5from DVLA still for it anyway.

Umm..i hate to say this hun..but why didnt you research them first??..they will mark up your Galaxy a great deal by a couple of thousand at least.

Plus they may apply for a new V5 which will take a couple of weeks to come through to them

Any joy with trading standards??????

How long have you had the car for??

Car Crap have a place in Newport south wales also.

You cant even get to look at the cars until some spotty tw*t in a suit has all you details written down.

All they want to do is to sell as many as possible to keep the turn over high and two fingers if it goes wrong.

I wouldnt buy the Galaxy back if they have repaired it themselves because how do you know the grease monkeys out the back are any better than the rest of the outfit.

Not a lover of car supermarkets.

Yep, I dare say you are all right, I know I made the mistake from buying from the countries worst garage. I intend to trade the Laguna in after I pick it up next week, and buy another Gal, oh well, at least they might end up having to pay out for repairs to the Galaxy at some stage, as that was the original reason for all this. Who knows when the Laguna has its new turbo fitted it might actually be a half decent car !

I've had the car for 3 weeks, 2 weeks in the garage ! No joy with trading standards other than they have to fix it within 14 days, I can legally reject the car, but only a brand new one, or I can reject a used car only after the repairs are done but only if they are not to satisfactory standards.

Yes, fingers crossed the Laguna will be up and running by mid week. Then I can make a decision as to whether or not to keep it.

It is actually quite a nice car, 2.2Dci 150bhp tourer with colour sat nav and half leather with all the trimmings (top spec). Cost over 22k 3 years ago, at least I only did a part ex plus a few hundred for it. If I had paid out a fortune I would be spitting feathers ! The deal worked out better than any other local garage, plus the Laguna was bought at a web price, not the forecourt price (saving

Not wanting to sound padantic but "the turbo went" ok 50k is a little low but it does happen and i would be happy for a NEW TURBO to be fitted,it is new? please check and please check what warranty the turbo comes with.If only 3 or 6 months then it cannot be new and if its second hand then i would not be happy and i would advise you to go back to trading standards. If on the otherhand it is new, then you are lucky it went now and at no cost to yourself, then that one major worry out of the way.. enjoy.

And make sure they change the engine oil too, no matter if it was done just the other week.

Yes, the turbo they are fitting is brand new, however I will check that on collection. I understand the importance of an oil change for a new turbo especially, but surely they will have to drain the engine to change a turbo anyway won't they ? I might just pop into my local garage and have it done again anyway just in case.
