Looking For A Replacement Galaxy

As you may have read, I have been having lots of trouble with my Galaxy, so I am looking for a new one, has anyone seen any bargain deals recently on the mkII versions. I saw this one today, good spec and really nice, but a little too expensive for me:

I live in the Yorkshire, but am willing to travel for the right one, might try and get a top spec one, as the prices seem to have come down since the mkIII was launched.

Yep, the old Gal has gone, I just couldn't afford to throw any more money at it. The head gasket was more than likely the culprit of the issues I have been having, maybe even a cylinder head crack, but not got the cash to sort it, and warranty wouldn't pay out on strip down as it was an 'ongoing known' issue.

Quite sad to see her go really (4 years ownership), as I have many happy (and unhappy!) memories with her. So I am on the look out for something to replace it with. I am sort of between cars, I have got one at the moment to tied me over, but ultimately even though the old one gave me some problems I am willing to try another one. Would like one that is no older than 3 years and high spec, with DVD etc.

check out the friday ad for my area m8, theres been a few advertised over the last few weeks private and dealer,and maybe a bit cheaper down here,i paid just over 9k for mine about 6 mths ago(i know i had problems)but it got sorted in the end,good luck with your search.

Anyone seen any more bargains ? I'm about to go and maybe buy one from my Ford local dealer, as it seems reasonabily priced for a dealer, plus has a 3 year warranty with it included, that'll come in useful ! 1.9tdi 115 Ghia Galaxy 2003, same as I had before basically, its even the same coulour. :blink:

I have found a VW Sharan at my local dealer, it is a fairly basic model, but I am thinking basic means less to go wrong, its a 2.0 petrol 2003 in dark blue, 30k miles, immaculate condition throughout, manual gear box with A/C, price: Edited September 27, 2007 by jkspoff

Have you got the Laguna fixed and if so have you gave up on it.

I want a Galaxy/Sharan etc, the Laguna has had a new turbo fitted but has now got oil pouring out of the gearbox ! Had it in to garage today and it needs a new drift shaft oil seal fitting, plus there is something knocking on the suspension, and I miss the Galaxy badly, so will be trading it in this week hopefully and going back to something like I had before.... :rolleyes:

Is the 2.0 VW petrol engine ok ?

Unless it's a 2.0T I would think it would be seriously underpowered, especially if you're towing. The 2.3 would be better but don't you want another diesel?

it looks like that the rear two seats in that car have armrests - is this normal in a Sharan (its not a six seater)

mind you closer examination of the 2nd row seats shows 2 bolt holes where an arm rest was bolted on - I reckon it could have been a 6 six seater - converted to 7

I would check the roof for skidmarks from low flying aircraft.

 

I think it has seen a few trips to Leeds airport in its time..
