naroekie Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Hi I have have problems finding the fualt that is causing the powertrain module fuse (F15) to blow on my 1998 Galaxy 2.8 4x4. The car will run. I havce had it sitting on tickover in the drive for over an hour. You can rev it nothing happens. 10-15 mins of driving and fuse F15 blows. Pop a new fuse in and it will last 5 more mins them blows again and will keep blowing until the car is cold. At first I thought it was the powertrain module gone. But I have switched it with the one out of my other galaxy also a v6, and after resetting the PATS module I got it running fine. Started off on holiday next day stopped for fuel and 5 mins down the road the fuse blows. Got an error code from vagcom saying MAF sensor open/short circuit intermittent So I pulled the maf sensor plug off it and tried it but fuse blew straight away. Anybody got any ideas? Quote
big_kev Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Got to ask the obvious first are you sure F15 is for the PCM ? Quote
insider Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 F15 is for the engine cooling fan run-on relay which ties in with your symptoms, i.e. it doesn't blow when the engine's cold. Does the fuse blow when the fan kicks in?Check for a short circuit / fault in the cooling fan circuit. Quote
naroekie Posted September 10, 2007 Author Report Posted September 10, 2007 According to all the wiring diagrams I have fuse 15 is for the ecm ( powertrain module ) Fans were kicking in and out no problem without blowing the fuse when I was testing in the drive. Going to have to check the wiring diagrams again. Quote
