Guest flash Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 I'm looking to buy (no trade in) a new Galaxy 1.9TDi Ghia.Any suggestions as to where the best price can be had from? eurocars of Epsom are advertising new 1.9 Ghia's on their web site @ Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Eurocars would have been my first choice too, if I could afford to buy new.Do you mind pre-registered? Could then try Trade Sales of Slough or Motorpoint etc.If you are near Epsom, could also try Inchcape Ford in Guildford, IIRC they nearly matched an imported price for someone as featured in What Car magazine some time last year. seatkid Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 For a Seat Alhambra (and probably Ford Galaxy too) Try phoning Marsalls of Bedford contact Peter Moden 01234 271971When I bought (back in 1998 admittedly) they were the only dealer I found who were professional and courteous and they offered the best price with no hassle straight away over the phone. I was really impressed with Peter (and it takes a lot to do that) - no hard sell, just honest and a real gentleman. Quote
iainkirk Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I got mine from Motorpoint and would recommend. We've actually bought 2 cars from them this year. Their website says they are Quote
Taliska Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 I bought mine down the road from Motorpoint at Ian Shipton in Burton on Trent. Couldn't believe how easy it was. Price was lower than Motorpoint and no hidden extras that MP seemed to like to add on (like inspection checks). Clean place, nice staff, absolutely no complaints - oops, only one - it ran out of diesel on the forecourt before I drove it off :( They even gave me a reasonable price for my aged Audi! See http://www.ianshiptoncars.co.uk - damned Flash website. Doesn't look as if they've got any new Galaxys in at the moment. :( Taliska Quote
iainkirk Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 Import Galaxies seem to be a bit scarce at the moment, although Motorpoint seem to have about 15 - a mixture of LXs and Ghias. Motorpoint ones seem to come from Belgium and are purchased/imported by a (probably skeleton) company called SPA Rental (which is probably part of Motorpoint). Quote
Taliska Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 ...purchased/imported by a (probably skeleton) company called SPA Rental That's the same supplier for Ian Shipton at Burton on Trent! I wonder if you can ring them up and ask who they've supplied recently - worth a try I guess. Here's their address in the UK (looks like a UK branch of the continental company to me)... SPA Rental Limited 19 Chapman Way TN2 Tunbridge Wells Clearly a bit of their postcode has vanished in translation. There's a Belgian garage stamp at the bottom of the label. Hummm... can't find a phone number for them - what a surprise! Taliska Quote
iainkirk Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 I think I've discovered why you can't find a phone number for SPA RENTAL and also why the stocks of "import" Galaxies seem to be a bit low and/or increasing in price: Name & Registered Office : SPA RENTAL LTD 4TH FLOOR SOUTHFIELD HOUSE11 LIVERPOOL GARDENSWORTHINGWEST SUSSEX BN11 1RY Status :Liquidation Company No. :04304156 Date of Incorporation : 12/10/2001 Country of Origin : United Kingdom Company Type: Private Limited Company Nature Of Business (SIC(92)): 5010 - Sale of motor vehicles Accounting Reference Date : 31/03 Last Accounts Made Up To : 31/03/2002 (DORMANT) Next Accounts Due : 31/01/2004 Last Return Made Up To : 12/10/2002 Next Return Due : 09/11/2003 OVERDUE Quote
italiastar Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 Sorry to go on, but this is the position I found when I bought mine. TDis were scarce - any cars I found were imports and the price when you took everything into account was not that clever. Why don't you try the SEAT Dealers - if it's your money, you'll get much more value for it. At this time of year try a pre-reg as the plate will be out of date next month. If your not a plate snob negotiate a good deal on a 53 plate. Quote
