Airrex7 Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 So there I was with my youngest daughter in the Gal' the other evening, Dad she said why are those two round lights turned off, pointing to the back of an 05 Seat Ibiiza in front? Ah I said all knowing, those are the reverse lights, they shine brightly when you put the car into reverse to go backwards. Yes daddy but why is one clear and one red? There not darling, they are both clear, maybe the right one looks a bit red because the red light next to it is somehow reflecting into it. So she gives out one of those scorn sighs that only a little girl can have for daddy and became a little madam,--------dad, it's red. A little teasing ensued but damn if she wasn't right. I thought all UK vehicles made after 1992 had to have 2 fitted reversing lights, this Ibiza only had one, the other I assume was a fog light, is that right? Quote
seatkid Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 A lot of lesser cars (superminis etc) inc my Corsa have one red fog light on right and one clear reversing light on left nowadays. Ridiculous cost cutting/design compromise as it renders the car somewhat illegal when driving in fog in Europe..... :D Quote

seatkid Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 SK not having a good day.....I was wrong (again) - My Corsa looks as if it has two reversing lights - so maybe its only on certain cars as you may or may not have observed. I have certainly spotted it on small Seats. Quote
big_kev Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 When did you say this happened? :16: Don't know I will have to ask my mum ! Quote
adrianf. Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 Wifey used to have a Pug 307 and that only had one reversing lightThen again it was French crap. Quote
AndeeeH Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 IIRC all 3 of the Gals I've owned only came with a rear fog light on the off-side. In the near-side light clusters there were small plastic blanking plates blocking the hole where the bulb would go. It was easy enough to twist out the plastic bits and fit a bulb as the socket was already there. :( Andy. Quote
