dipsomaniac Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 just had another look at the pump and it looks more like an electric secondary water pump. can anyone confirm? Quote
big_kev Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 What do the pipes connect to ( I thought the air filter ! ) ? Quote
dipsomaniac Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 just had another another look and you are right big kev. it connects to air filter so must be air pump. thanks again Quote
Steve S. Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 This "lump" is technically called the "coolant run-on pump", found I think on V6 motors only. It keeps the coolant flowing after switch off to prevent hotspots etc. I've actually replaced mine with a s/h one as it was seized. Has it made a difference...no idea! Quote
wood73 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 it is an auxillary air pump, its purpose is supposedly to bring the cat up to efficient working temp quicker.you usually hear it making a noise when you start the engine from cold. Quote
