Mileometer Change ?

is it possible to change the mileage on the speedo with the vag com, if so how do i do it

sorry must have asked wrong, is it possible to change the mileage reading. i have a new gauge and want to set it to the correct mileage the car has travelled.

I had a feeling that that was what you were looking for. Am not an expert but I wouldn't have thought it would be possible, after all, there would be many an unscrupulous dealer buying VAG Coms if it were.

 

Why not just kep the old guage (or photograph it's reading) and use that as evidence that the total mileage is as you state - assuming you want the record for selling the vehicle some time in the future.

IIRC there are some posts many many eons ago about this. Apparently it can be done only once or twice, but only by certain outfits with specialist equipment who have to report to DVLA.

when ford put the new instrument cluster in they set the mileage - just a bog standard dealer using the wds 2000 system (IIRC the name)
