Just like to say hi to eveyone on board, superp site what an absolute god send.

Here's the nitty gritty bit.

I have a MK1 Galaxy 2.0ltr DOHC model, shes been a good old girl very reliable until of late. The problem i've had is every now and the she would just turn over and over but would only do this every now and then. What i would do is remove relay No.4 (X contact relay)and relay No.12 (fuel pump) and then replace them turn ingnition and she would start. Yesterday driving along and she cut out completely, I pulled over and carried out the procedure a couple of times and she started. Anyway drove home switched of and she wouln't start again no matter what. Anyone know what an X contact relay is? If i overide the fuel pump relay I can hear the fuel pump running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Thanks for the reply Big Kev

Sorry mate i'm refering to the position of the relays as per my dotty owners manual (seems to differ from others as when i open the relay box compartment it has printed everywhere Property of the Ford Motor Company) I was told when i bought her that it was a Demo Verhicle of some sort.

Your right though relay No.18 (Grey box) is printed on it. (still wonder why it's listed as X contactor relay)

But have just checked out the infamous relay No.30, although it was pulling in when turning the ignition I gave it a gentle push with a screwdriver to make sure it was making contact Hey presto she fired up, although when I released the driver the engine cut out, looks like this is the problem. Have to wait till Monday now (Dagenham Motors). I'll keep you informed.

could be a dry solder joint in the socket or weak connectors
