Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 Blade life depends on many things, like mileage, use, how long you left them frozen in the winter, how well they melted in the summer heat .... Mine are about 30 months old - I bought them as genuine Bosch replacements (curved type). FWIW for the rear, use the cheap Quote
WHUWarrior Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Hi, I have a 2001 mark 2 with wiper blades curved up. the wipers work fine but I have the most annoying wiper judder ever. I have wasted so much time and money on new blades, cleaner etc. with no success. So I have just purchased from a breakers, two later mark 2 edition wiper arms with pin type flat blade clasps to see if that makes a difference. I have tried fitting them today with 28" blades but despite moving the arms on the linkage up and down I cannot get the wipers to stop clashing. I am taking the two 28s back to Halfords tomorrow. My thoughts are I need to try a 26 on the passenger side and a 28 on the drivers side. I think this will solve it. anything to stop this awful wiper chatter. I'll keep posting how I get on Quote
NikpV Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 judder usually means that the linkage is on the way to seizing - drop the linkage dissemble and regrease - loads of posts on here about it Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 A couple of points on issues raised in some of the posts. The heated screen was fitted to Granada/Scorpios dating back abut 20 years, possibly as far back as '86. The curved wipers are a bit of a menace but they do outlast the totally useless expensive and fancy Bosch things fitted to the facelift models. My old ones have done 80k and still work well. I have had 2 sets of Bosch ones on the facelift one in 10k and they need replacing again. Quote
Daveo Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Was at a local ford dealer earlier today. I stand corrected - I saw a facelifted galaxy with the curved wipers. Obviously the swith to using the straight thin types that cost Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Tesco are now doing own-brand "cheap" replacements for the flat-blade wipers; trouble is, I don't think they go up to 28 inches :-( Quote
