Guest ap58 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Hi, this is my first posted topic in this forum.I bought a Galaxy tdi 90HP, year 1998, last week. During the test trip everything was OK, but after few days the electric window at the driver door (the left one, I live in Germany) does not slide anymore. I can hear the electric motor working but there is no window movement. I suspect that a mechanical joint got loose. Now my question: How can I remove the door panel to access the mechanics of the electric window? Any other suggestion after the described simptoms? Thanks a lot to everybody! Quote
Dave-G Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 The winding mechanism in these cars is a "braided galvanised cable" which seems prone to eventual metal fatigue, depending on its level of use. :D The driver side usually fails first as it's the most used, particularly if the driver smokes. :D :D The door card removal is extensivly covered elsewhere in this forum...search for it, but it's a job that I would leave to the dealer :D Quote
Guest ianock Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Door panel isn't that bad to remove but if I may recommend having the following tools at hand if your going to do it yourself;1)Pry bar-to get the panel off2)glue gun-to stick the retaing clip holders back on after removing panel(see above)3)Retaing clips-unless your going to grovel under the vehicle trying to find them & if you do they are probably broken anyway.4)Soldering iron,to melt the speaker grille retaining clips after you put your fingers through the flimsy thing!5)Kettle or can beer-to calm you down(valium also works)6)Pen,paper & phonebook-to phone local dealers for prices of new door trim! :( Quote
