madscouser Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 Hi everyone, got my monitor delivered today, I have a fair idea how to wire it up, ie live and earth, but I have heard if you wire these straight to the battery you can damage the monitor, does anyone know the best way to wire one in, I have searched and seen bagpuss's excellent install, but no were can i find the best way to wire one up, cheers....oh I did run a tester wire from the battery and there were lines all over the screenI think maybe too much power Quote
Smilge Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 First time I've heard of that problem matey. I can't see any problems with wiring straight to the battery as long as you stick an anti-surge fuse inline with the 12v supply. Personally, I'd wire it up to an accessory 12v from the fusebox so that you have to switch the ignition on to position 1 to get it to work. That will save draining the battery if left connected and switched on. Are you sure it requires 12v? If there's a mains adapter with it just check to make sure the adapter says 12v output and that will tell you? The lines on your screen sounds like it either needs setting up (PAL not NTSC, region, etc), a gash disc or its broke. Quote
