mumof4 Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Hi bluemoon, welcome to the forum...i moved your post to the appropiate section. Quote
seatkid Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Read the posts in the mkIII section, but really there are too few posts on this forum to form an opinion yet about the Ford mkIII Galaxy. One or two members have had major gripes but remember people are much more likely to post problems than a happy/satisfied experience. At this stage its down to you to decide. Get some decent test drives and remember to compare alternative engines and maybe even try a VW Sharan or Seat Alhambra as well - its a lot of money and you owe it to yourself to be reasonably happy you chose the right car. This class of car (Galaxy or Sharan/Alhambra) isnt flying out of showrooms, I bet most dealers will let you test drive for 24 hours and remember to haggle hard - 25% off should be easy, just check the internet for starters. longdon12 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i've got a 1.8 tdci and have had no problems with it so far and i find it has quite a bit of grunt aswell Quote
Whizkid Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Hi - I had a 1.8TDCi, and on reflection the engine was fine. I used it mainly on motorways and it was a joy. I had the problem with the dual mass flywheel which the dealer sorted out, and it also had the latest software load which cured the problem with engine surge in 1st gear. Mine was one of the first builds (June 06), but I now have a 2007.75MY, (2.0 TDCi) which itself is fine. I would have no problem purchasing a 1.8TDCi in 2007.75 spec. In fact I had one on order before I saw the one I now have in dealer stock. Quote
bluefluffybunny Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 I have a 56 1.8 TDCI ghia.ok, it's not my mates CLK 3.5 v6.but it gets me and 500kg of metal (demo systems) from chichester to berlin and back, very often, no problems, pretty comfortable, 39MPG computer reads 53mpg for some reason. sat at 85MPHwhen the weekend comes, my wife and kids and my parents all fit in with the 2 kids bikes in the boot and all is well.better than my old laguna, bigger than a mondeo, not much slower.solid as a rock. GaryM Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Had one of these for a year now. Originally wanted a 2L but could not find one. Test drove a 1.8 and was plesently supprised. Took the plunge. Nice to drive suppisingly pokey given the small size and large lump to pull. Little bit sticky off the starts though tends to lurch or stall. Probably just my poor driving ability. Quote
