Taliska Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Yes, Been wondering about what they are - three notches on either side on the inside of the centre dashboard compartment. Like I've got so many other things in life to puzzle about - this one I can think of no answer. Taliska Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I asked this question a few months back and the wisdom of this forum provided the answer..... They are for holding sticks of celery. Quote
Taliska Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 Nahhhh... it's not cold enough in there to keep it fresh! Someone must know - somewhere! Taliska Quote
Dally Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 It's for keeping your pound coins in!! The notches are cut outs that allow you to grab the coins and pull them out - go on and give it a try. Quote
Dave-G Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004  To show how many bonks the driver's had in it....innit? Quote
pj_andrew Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 There seem to be coin slots in the left storage bin, which I don't use 'cause they are too far from the driver - instead I use the ashtray. The notches in the edges of the center bin - well - it's a mystery. All I can think is that they are needed as part of the manufacturing process. Or, perhaps there was a clever insert which never got manufactured. Quote
Guest Gav1968 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 I agree with the others...they are for coins. Better than having them rattle around (instead put CDs in the CD bins to do that). Use the little slots for small change and the locking keys to your roof rack and roof box. Quote
Taliska Posted January 20, 2004 Author Report Posted January 20, 2004 Stuck a pound coin in today to see if it would fit - seemed a bit tight! :D If I can find them, will try Euros tomorrow out of interest (maybe Deutchmarks would fit better) :D Coin holder seems plausible - VW had them in the Mk2 Golf, but they were very visible and therefore more or less useless. :D Didn't have any dinner money today as only had 1 pence left - the pound coin was left in the car by accident! :D Taliska Quote
pj_andrew Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 I'm surprised someone hasn't taken a digital camera to this issue, and come up with some lovely pictures of the coin slots with a variety of coinage for our delectation. :D Quote
pj_andrew Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 Those are cracking pictures ! - no sweetie wrappers, crumbs nor collection of small paraphernalia left by various occupants. Mind you, 3 quid won't buy much parking where I live. So what are the fin like slots in the left side of the left bin for. I thought those were the coin slots - although I've never tried them ! Quote
Dally Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 The rubbish was temporarily relocated to the passenger seat for the photo shoot. Don't worry, it's all back there now!! Quote
