kevsgalaxytdi Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Hi everyone, well my galaxy is still gutless up until 2000 rpm, i have borrowed a snap on scanner and this is what it came up with, switching time soleinoid valves cyl 1; -38 cyl 2; 12 cyl 3; 4/5 cyl 4; 27/28 all at idle, at 2500 rpm i recorded the following cyl 1; 10 cyl 2; 25 cyl 3; -3 cyl 4; 40 , barometric pressure was fixed at 999 throughout the rev range, intake manifold pressure at idle was 989/999 and at 2000 rpm it was 1040, boost pressure at 2500 rpm desired 1122 and actual 1050, there are now no codes stored as previously i was getting intermittent communication fault with ecm, cheers Kev.. johnswlondon Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 well now kevin, youre saying you have what we used to call a `flat spot` up to 2000rpm.i have never really spent a lot of time with fault codes.a fault with the maf unit would reduce the power output a lot,but sometimes something as simple as a bad tank of fuel can be responsible, the use of cheap oil can make the valves stick or a blocked or faulty fuel injector(redex sells an injector cleaner to mix with the fuel),so too a blocked air filter i suppose what im really saying is eliminate the obvious first Quote
big_kev Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Agree with John on this one....the money is definitely on the Fuel/MAF. Unplug the MAF and see if it makes a difference....if no difference then your MAF is knackered. Quote
kevsgalaxytdi Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 Hi there, thanks for your replies, i have replaced the maf , tried forte, only run it on bp ultima 99.9 per ltr, i use lucas fully synth oil , recent air filter too, im no expert on the pd series but the figures i have posted just cant be right? cheers Kev... kevsgalaxytdi Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 would anyone know if there is a particular procedure to installing the injectors as i have recently rebuilt this motor after buying it as a non runner, locked up on cyl 1 with bent rod! couldnt find settings anywhere for the rocker shaft that charges the injectors plus it is a tad noisy compared to my dads a4 which has the same motor! Smilge Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Wouldn't have a clue Kev but you might like to try this site: http://www.tdiclub.com/ Quote
tim-spam Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 There is a procedure for installing the injectors - if you get hold of something like Elsawin or a Haynes manual covering a VAG Group car fitted with the PD engine, that should tell you. From memory, the procedure for setting the pump injectors is as follows: 1) Turn the engine until the pump injector is at it's maximum opening - ie: the roller is bearing against the highest point of the lobe. 2) Loosen the locknut and tighten the adjuster until a definite increase resistance is felt - that is the point at which the pump injector has reached the limit of its stroke. 3) Back off the adjuster by a certain ammount - this is what I can't remember, but any of the above publications should have this information. 4) Tighten the locknut whilst counterholding the adjuster. insider Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 3) Back off the adjuster by a certain ammount - this is what I can't remember, but any of the above publications should have this information.Turn it anti-clockwise 225 degrees (5/8 of a turn). Quote
