If they are seized..then dont try and use them..otherwise you will burn the motor out..(equals lots of pennies and selling one of the kids to pay for it) i did a thread on this as i unseized mine..as have others...Try squirting WD40 down the spindle..if that doesnt work..then either they could be seized or a problem with the motor..either way..me thinks your linkage has to come out!!..have fun...:)..brute force is a no no as is useing a hammer..time and patience with copious amounts of WD40 are needed for seized wipers....a lot on here have broken their linkages ( i didnt ;) ) so please be carefull with it.

Dave-T......i will merge this post with your original thread on the problem. It helps not to keep starting threads to do with the same thing as they all get read, plus people can see what was the problem before or any correlating problems.

A tip...if you click on "View new posts"...you can see if anyone has replied to your previous posts.

hi wiper motor still constantly on after taking electrical plug off of motor discovered that there is a constant live feed going to the plug/motor. could it be that the wiper relay is at fault here?

thanks

Not sure, someone needs to check the TIS.

PCB cleaner requires a good couple of hours to dry completely especially if it gets under components. It electrically conducts when still present causing problems on electronics.

Something Fords use to try and fix cars.

Its a disc with info on it from body work..electrical..mechanical..how to dismantle..put back together..

Worth getting one from Ebay.

Hi Dave, hi all

permanent live to wipers is correct. the other live is a switched live.

It sounds like you have a short between the permanent live and the switched if you do this wipers wont stop ever

You may also have connected them wrongly did any wires fall out of the multi plug .I think from memory the plug only goes on one way.

If all of the above is ok you may have a problem with wiper stalk though this is uncommon( waits for oh no its not pantomime style ;) )

I would suggest letting contacts dry out making sure wires are correct and check again. If its still bad repost here or in technical for more help.

I have done this repair with help from guys and gals here and it went ok biggest prob was cleaning all the crap around pollen filter out.

Good luck

hi after testing feed to motor 1 earth 1 constant feed as i have read this is correct. then found there is another constant feed which relates to the first position of the wiper stalk found the other feed for the intermitant and found the feed for the full speed which both go off when you turn of at the stalk but still leaves a second constant feed which relates to the first position of the wiper stalk even when the wipers are turned off.

thanks

Interesting stuff from 'Honest John'.

"What to Watch Out For

Make sure 7-seaters are genuine seven-seaters with rearmost area heating and not just 5-seaters with two extra seats clipped in. Make sure recall work carried out. Beware if wipers won't turn off. Vital to check that the aircon works properly as this is a common failure and fixing it can be very expensive. Clonks from the front of a 2.3 petrol model may mean one or more engine mounting bolts have sheared.

JATCO advises owners not to carry out AUTOMATIC transmission fluid changes hemselves because it's difficult to ensure the correct amount is added (the gearbox needs to be run to a specific temperature - This requires diagnostic equipment) and probably they will use the wrong oil, e.g. Land Rover Discovery ATF is different from a Land Rover Freelander, and Jaguar X-Type (Jatco) uses different ATF to a Land Rover Freelander (Jatco).
