seatkid Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 The immobiliser chip in the key is seperate from the remote. It sometimes falls out of the key if you open it up. AFAIK it can only be programmed by a dealer, for obvious reasons...... Quote
gregers Posted August 12, 2007 Author Report Posted August 12, 2007 have checked and both keys have the immobilizer present, can vag com do the job?have tried to fool the system by inserting working key twice then inserting new key but no joy. Quote

AFAIK it can only be programmed by a dealer, for obvious reasons...... Ahha!! Now I understand whats happened! The key came apart whilst on holiday 3 weeks ago, and when I clicked the 2 halves back together the car would not start. Luckily we had the plain key with us so it wasn't a problem. Having read through the key related posts on here I realised that the chip has fallen out.Very long shot, but nothing ventured nothing gained, so a torchlit hands and knees search of my caravan floor has just revealed the missing chip! Clipped it back into the key fob and all is well and working as before. And so this site has once again proved invaluable. Brilliant! Quote

Does anyone know where you can get hold of these chips and what do they look like? Pics would be appreciated. Thanks. Quote
NikpV Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 AFAIK it can only be programmed by a dealer, for obvious reasons...... no if its the mk2 then two working (programmed) keys can code a third Quote
