Did you know there is a recall on some vehicles with dmf? Contact your dealer to see if applies to your vehicle. If it does, negotiate a refund.

Recall: No. 6 of 9

Recall Ref: R/2006/034

Exact Model:

Description: Flywheel may fail

VIN:

Build Date:

Numbers: 7301

Defect: The dual mass flywheel could fail in such a way that the friction pad and spring break through the duel mass flywheel housing. This could cause rough running, noise and vibration and in extreme cases could result in transmission damage and localised burning of the engine under shield insulation.

Action: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and renew the dual mass flywheel and clutch assembly.

Launch Date: 25 April 2006

The recall mentioned above only affects 130PS models built between Nov 2002 and August 2003, i.e. not yours.

Your symptoms could indicate that it's time to change your clutch but I doubt if there's a problem with your DMF.

thanks for that

i have a vibration at 1750 & 2250 rmp and some times when i depress the clutch in get a oscillating squeal as though its eccentric sort of catching then not but the car pulls like a train its only the vibration and odd squeal thats annoying.

i could do with some info on changing it . engine code is AUY

last thing is there a conversion kit to single mass flywheel thanks paul

Unless you enjoy changing gearboxes, I really cannot recommend that you would want a single mass flywheel. its main purpose is to damp out the power pulses going into the transmission.

hi george

while i can appreciate the job that the duel mass fly wheel is suposed to do i am not a boy racer and don't tow anything at all i have such a large car for comfort and the fact that i carry a disabled buggy about most of the time now back to my problem all i am really looking for is information on how to convert it to single mass fly wheel as i think that this will adiquately do the job without the expence of the dual mass so if there is anyone who knows where there is a conversion kit for my car which is a mark 2 x reg 115ps and engine code auy and the manual for this car or the technical data that i can down load to look what the job entails any help would be appreciated

many thanks

paul

Plenty of conversion kits on EBAY. Don't know anything about them though.
