You're right, 30 and 50 should only be connected at position 3 so it sounds like the switch is at fault. 50 is connected to the starter motor solenoid via Fuse 26 and the immobiliser so if it's getting 12v in position 2 the starter will run all the time the ignition is on.

If the fault in the ignition switch cannot be repaired then it will have to be replaced. Then he'll have to decide whether or not to get matching door locks too or accept having two different keys for the car as another member has recently found.
